RIM and NTP

So its settled. I am glad its over and heartbroken that NTP got money from RIM for patents that have been tossed. I am glad there are no royalties involved and that it is a one time pay out deal. But still NTP should have been kicked out on the street penniless. How can the legal system allow it? It would be one thing if the patent office upheld the patents in question. I might have not liked it but I would have had to agree. However, that is not what happened. The judge should be law bound to see the new evidence and go, oh, the patents are not valid, well, NTP has no case. Appeals or not, justice was not served, she was completly and utterly denied. To me it is sad and another example of the messed up legal system we have in the USA. Like a woman sueing over hot coffee. Well ofcourse the coffee is hot, that is what makes it coffee. There are people out there who make carrers out of sueing other companies and people. That is the only way they get money. It is 100% craziness that should not be allowed.
People are afraid to do things at times because they might get sued for crazy amounts of money. Doctors are afraid to practice, teachers to teach, heck, even cooks to cook.

Of course speaking of teachers, there is the one that has gotten a lot of attention for compairing President Bush to Hitler. He is entitled to his opinion, but the rant (and I head a large part of the recording and rant is the best word to describe it) he should have had better discretion about what he says in his classroom during his class. The kids couldn't leave, they were forced to listen and they were very radical views. It would have been different if it had been an after school gathering students chose to attend. Not to mention what did it all have to do with World Geography?

Anyhow, I am going to get back to watching my tv from this week. It has been crazy mad busy all week at home and work.
